ANGELA KASTANIS
The many parts of ME
I am a contemporary Australian Printmaker and Painter with a Greek heritage. I grew up in inner city Melbourne. I attended Monash University and have an Honours Degree in Fine Art, majoring in Printmaking (Etching), with my minor being Sculpture.
I tell stories and observe life.
I have a curious nature, and I love exploring colours and techniques, even now as I have shifted my practice to include painting, my printmaking experience with texture and mark-making is an evident influence in my work.
Creating, is my space
I explore emotions and desires with my work. I like working in most genres and I am just as comfortable working from my imagination as I am working from life. My work is diverse, I could be painting a figurative piece one day and doing an abstract the next. Painting gives me freedom to explore everything and anything I want. I work in oils, acrylics and mixed media.
I love coffee and daydreaming.
I now live on the Sunshine Coast, on a lovely big property with a beautiful tropical garden, surrounded by wildlife. I can be found pottering in my garden, hanging with my two dogs, painting with my canvases spread out on the lawn or in my studio hiding from the world.
Making space to create.
